Korea Peace Day---November 6, 2003 At this time of heightening tension and increasing chance of war on the Korean peninsula, concerned scholars everywhere are calling for a renewed commitment to peaceful resolutions to the conflict in the region. On Thursday, November 6, 2003, on college campuses in the United States and around the world, we are calling for a day devoted to peace in Korea. For this Korea Peace Day, institutions on dozens of college campuses are sponsoring events devoted to understanding the current crisis and advocating for peaceful resolutions. These events include teach-ins, workshops, lectures, debates, discussion groups, films, vigils, and cultural presentations. Some institutions will host a full day of activities; others will sponsor shorter afternoon or evening events. The Alliance of Scholars Concerned about Korea (ASCK) will provide participating institutions with a briefing packet. We will be supplying news media with press releases, op-eds, and letters to the editor in order to garner maximum publicity for this effort. We also recommend that participating institutions develop their own press materials for distribution locally. The following institutions will be hosting events for Korea Peace Day. This list will be frequently updated. Arizona State University
